Divine Mercy novena (day 1 of 9)

The Novena of Divine Mercy

The actual Novena of Divine Mercy consists of saying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy from Good Friday through Easer Saturday.

These requests given by Our LORD to St. Faustina for the specific days as well as her accompanying prayers are excellent intentions for the Novena itself as well as for prayer anytime throughout the year.

First Day (Good Friday)

Jesus:

“Today bring to Me ALL MANKIND, ESPECIALLY ALL SINNERS, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. In this way you will console Me in the bitter grief into which the loss of souls plunges Me.”

St. Faustina:

Most Merciful Jesus, whose very nature it is to have compassion on us and to forgive us, do not look upon our sins, but upon our trust which we place in Your infinite goodness. Receive us all into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart, and never let us escape from It. We beg this of You by Your love which unites You to the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon all mankind and especially upon poor sinners, all enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, show us Your mercy, that we may praise the omnipotence of Your mercy forever and ever. Amen.

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy

The Sign of the Cross

Our Father…

Hail Mary…

I Believe in God…

Work your way around the rosary, saying on the Our Father beads:

Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

On the Hail Mary beads:

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world.

After the Five Decade, say three times.

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, Have mercy on us and on the whole world.

The Sign of the Cross

In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth As it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail, Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee; Blessed art thou among women, And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God Pray for us sinners, Now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and life everlasting. Amen.
